Kerewan, a vibrant town in the North Bank Region of The Gambia, recently witnessed a remarkable event that showcased the power of community engagement and civic responsibility. The Kerewan Area Council, in collaboration with local residents and organizations, conducted a comprehensive cleaning exercise aimed at improving the cleanliness and hygiene of the town. This initiative not only promoted environmental consciousness but also fostered a sense of unity among the community.
The cleaning exercise, which took place on a sunny Saturday morning, was a testament to the commitment of both the local government and its citizens to create a cleaner and healthier living environment. Residents from all walks of life, young and old, came together with a shared goal – to make Kerewan a cleaner and more appealing place to live and work.
The activities included cleaning streets, alleys, public parks, and markets. Volunteers armed with brooms, shovels, gloves, and trash bags scoured the town, picking up litter, sweeping streets, and collecting garbage. It was heartening to see people of all ages participating enthusiastically, demonstrating their dedication to improving the aesthetics of their community.
